CHESTNUT and KOBAYASHI GO HEAD-TO-HEAD FOR HOT DOG HISTORY

Today (July 4th) at noon the world will be tuning in to ESPN for one of the biggest food competitions of the year – Nathan's 2010 Hot Dog Eating Contest. And although numerous gluttons will take the podium for punishment there are really only two standouts – Joe Chestnut (USA) and Takeru Kobayashi (Japan). But then again this hot dog eating contest is occurring on any give Sunday. Meaning it could turn into the ultimate dog fight. Here are the Coney Island competitors you should keep an eye on (if you can stomach it).

2009 contest results:

1st: Joey Chestnut - 68 hot dogs and buns (record)

2nd: Takeru Kobayashi - 64 ½

3rd: Pat Bertoletti - 55

4th: Tim Eater X Janus - 53

5th: Bob Shoudt - 41 3/4

6th: Sonya Thomas (Black Widow) - 41

BREAKING NEWS: KOBAYASHI will not be participating today due to a contract dispute.
