3 FRED FACTOIDS OF THE DAY

Mr. Rogers composed all the music for the show and over 200 tunes.

He dropped out the Ivy League school Dartmouth to attend Rollins University to pursue a career in music.

Fred was color blind (couldn’t see the color blue).

  1. He also began playing the piano at age 5, swam every morning, was a vegetarian and an ordained Presbyterian minister.

He was a staple in this house when my kids were growing up.

  2. I liked Mr. Rogers...but Lady Elaine creeped me out and Miss Kitty was super annoying. And Mr. Speedy Delivery...dude needed to cut back on the coffee...or coke...or whatever he was on. No one needed to get their delivery THAT speedily.

  3. I've heard of this guy even though I don't really watch American television so I couldn't see his shows, he sounds like a seriously awesome guy though, he's pretty legendary on the internet from what I know.

  4. It'd be an irony if he couldn't see red.

  6. Mr. Rogers would not have approved of 2 girls, 1 cup.

  7. I heard he was a sniper in Vietnam and has tattoos all over his arms which is why he wears those sweaters all the time, to cover them up.

  8. Zombie, That is not true. Mr. Rogers was never in the military. One of my missions in life is to contradict the lies that silly emails perpetuate. And Mr. Rogers was from Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Mr. McFeely (a scary name if ever there was one) was named after little Freddie's grandpa.

    Love,

    1. Also, he's not wearing sweaters anymore. He died quite some time ago.

I wonder what he would have done if he didn't have the kids show!

    1. He graduated from the seminary. He could have been a minister at a church, or he could have been a missionary. He saw the TV show as his mission.

  10. I don't care that his sniper origin myth is pure BS, he will always be a first rate badass in my book!

    1. He probably kicked the puppets around when no one was looking -- especially Daniel Striped Tiger. (mew mew) Then he'd sing "It's a fucked-up day in the neighborhood . . . "
