GUESS WHAT I SHOVED IN MY 40 YR. OLD BODY ON SATURDAY.

Give up? Don’t really care? On Saturday the wife and I journeyed from Manhattan Island to the Isle of Long Island City to see my buddy’s band ADRENALINE play.
THEY ROCKED!!! That being said…
We had to brave the F train ON THE WEEKEND!
Walked late at night through a deserted creepy industrial park…
‘til we finally arrived at the german restaurant / metalmania bar – Wunderbar
Immediately I ordered a big German beer with a giant head (mommy bloggers get your heads out of the gutter).
Then after perusing the menu I settled on the
wiener schnitzel ala Holstein – every bite was pure heaven!

SO WHAT IS IT?
Essentially it’s deep fried veal topped with a nice healthy fried egg – Calorie-riffic!
Add the beer and fried potatoes to the mix and that pretty much sums up my need for …

…early Sunday morning. Still worth it. Every bite of it.

Single rocketed to #26 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts in ‘88.

Named the 27th best hard rock song by VH1.

The single is featured on Guitar Hero Encore: Rock’s the 80s.

LEGENDARY LYRICS:

EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS I LEARNED FROM HAIR METAL.

Baby, don't treat me bad.
Well, this could be the best thing that you'll ever have.
Baby, don't treat me bad.
(Well) you can do anything, but baby, don't treat me bad.
Oh, don't treat me bad.

METAL + STORY = WHADDA CONCEPT ALBUM!

Personally, I kinda liked the bubble-gum pop, syrupy sweet, mega-ballads and anthems that came from the hair metal bands of the late 80s. Warrant. Winger. Poison. Totally my cup of Kool-Aid. Ok, I can maybe see the critics’ point of view about the lack of substance.

Of course, Operation: Mindcrime was totally the exception to the “teased up hair, head-banging” rule. Penned by the band Queensryche, Operation: Mindcrime is a dark, political intrigue-ish thriller set to music, with some spoken word. The main plot deals with Nikki, a former heroine addict who gets turned into an assassin by the mysterious Dr. X. Other characters include an evil priest and a prostitute turned nun. Honestly, it’s the opera version of The Manchurian Candidate (without the hooker-nun part).

Overall it’s a great listen. I'd have to say my favorite songs are Revolution Calling and Eyes of a Stranger. Yes, I know those are the 2 "featured" singles they released on the radio.

OPERATION: MINDCRIME BY QUEENSRYCHE. GIVE IT A TRY.
