ONE MOVIE YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY GET AROUND TO SEEING, BUT I’LL JUST SPOIL THE ENDING FOR YOU ANYWAY
Sean goes to Kumata's place and gives him the money. Sean says he’s sorry for messing up Mr. K’s town. Sean then offers Kumata a deal. He and DK will race and the loser will leave town. Kumata accepts so off they go to race. Sean wins, and DK leaves town.
At the parking garage, Sean is now the new DK with Neela as his main squeeze. Just then Twinkie informs him that an old friend of Han's wants to race. Sean of course agrees and heads to the starting line. Dominic Toretto is there waiting for him, and the race begins – all in Han's memory.

9/11: TWO LIVES SAVED FROM REAL GENIUS.
Today we remember those we lost. Victims whose lives were cut short from one of the most horrific terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. To me however, I’m also reminded of 2 people whose lives were spared. Saved by some chance occurrence. Now these two individuals had never met. Yet they are bonded forever, together by this one thing – a movie. On that Tuesday morning at around 7-ish, both men were going through their ordinary morning routines. No different than any other day. Walking through their daily ablutions barely noticing the TV. That is until something on the screen caught their eye – a film from the mid 80s, Real Genius.
Quick synopsis: Val Vilmer plays an off-the-chart smartie that finds out his professor is using his invention for something evil. As a result, he tries to save the day with his fellow brains.
Now I’m sure if kids today saw this feature they’d think it was some screwball, cheesy 80s comedy. Looking at it now, I can see their point. I guess it’s similar to painfully watching an old black & white film that leaves my parents misty-eyed. To me, Real Genius takes me back to a period in my life. Happy, simple times that I’m sure both men shared as well. ‘Cause at that moment they both decided to stay, and watch the rest of the movie. A decision that saved both of their lives.
The first time I heard this story was on Wednesday, September 12. My two former co-workers are married to these men. They were amazed that they both had the same tale to tell. I too was just as amazed, and thankful. They gave me a little something to always smile about – on a tragic day none of us will soon forget.

KEVIN BACON TO THE UKRAINIAN LADY THAT CLEANS MY STUDIO APARTMENT
My wife says she’s Polish. I’m pretty sure she’s Ukrainian. Regardless, this is a tough one, but I think I can do it!
The Ukrainian lady cleans my house (once every 2 weeks).
I was in the same restaurant as Uma Thurman in 1996.
Uma Thurman was in Pulp Fiction with Bruce Willis.
Bruce Willis was in Armageddon with Steve Buscemi.
Steve Buscemi was in Reservoir Dogs with Chris Penn.
Chris Penn was in Footloose with KEVIN BACON! Taa Daaaa!!!!

NERD BLING for SUMMER 2011 (part 1.)
I so can’t wait for the latest crop of superhero movies this summer! You got Green Lantern, Cap (nerd nickname for Captain America), X-Men: First Class, and of course – THOR!!!
Interesting bit of useless trivia. For good luck I always use the name THOR: GOD OF THUNDER on my NCAA draw sheet. Alas, the name has never helped me win.
Oh, and also that the most definitive Thor collection ever created was by Walt Simonson (issues #337 – #382). The omnibus (dork for big book) goes for 73 bucks.
If you do decide to see the film this Friday I’d personally come equipped with this glorious piece of Asgardian ass!
- 18” accurate, aluminum-based replica (includes etched quote)
- handle wrapped in genuine glove leather
- includes museum quality, acrylic display case
- Only 1,000 pieces created
FYI…it was going for $350 before the movie came out. My guess is the price has gone up.
Either way it’d totally be worth it to sport one. I mean one glance of this hardware and all thy nerds will be grabbing tissues and running for the nearest men’s room (myself included.)

OH NO I SAID TOO MUCH!
Before we had internet if you wanted to surf you had to do it on cable. So let’s just say I clocked in some pretty crappy shows. To make matters worse I used to have to go channel surfing with a WIRELESS remote like this. Poor baby I know. It was one big carpal tunnel torture.
The making of Lethal Weapon 2: Pee Wee Herman had a cameo since they were filming on the WB lot….oh and a light hearted Mel Gibson?
The making of the “Happy to Be Stuck with you” video by Huey Lewis and the News: No comment.
The making Johnny Mnemonic (1995): I’m probably most pathetic for watching this poor man's version of the Matrix because dial up internet was around by this time. I could've been on Persian Kitty.

ONE MOVIE YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY RENT, BUT (WHAT THE HELL) I’LL SPOIL THE ENDING ANYWAY.
FLATLINERS (1990): Rachel, Joe, and David all use their experiences with death to eventually make amends with their inner-demons. Nelson too is able to overcome the guilt from accidentally killing his childhood friend. Though he has to be dead the longest to do so. FYI…Randy Steckle never dies in the movie.

#2- J.J. Abrams helped to pen this masterpiece.
#3-The opening scene asteroid is the same shape as the meteor in the Touchstone Pictures logo.
#4-This is the first movie that actors were permitted to wear official astronaut suits.
#5- Director Michael Bay plays one of the NASA scientists in the film
#6- Armageddon was released on the same day as Liv Tyler’s 21st birthday.
BONUS: I get all misty-eyed each and every time I watch Bruce Willis sacrifice himself to save the world.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE BLOG POST
Remember way back when we didn’t have the internet? You wanna know what I did as a kid (other than get my ass kicked in kickball)? I read those crummy CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE STORIES. Those were the books that promised you were in control of the story. Essentially you’d read a chapter (or two). Then at a certain point the novel would say something like…
TURN TO PAGE 22 If you want the Blue Knight fight the dragon.
TURN TO PAGE 18 If you want the Blue Knight to flee.
Invariably whatever story path you chose it always lead you to some sort of boring, happy ending. None of ‘em ever really lived up to the loads of DIE HARD-ish action promised on the cover.
IF YOU THINK THIS IS A BORING POST READ THE GREEN PASSAGE.
IF YOU THINK THIS IS A GENIUS POST READ THE PINK PASSAGE.
Green passage:
You think that this blog has finally jumped the shark. You’re even considering writing a nasty comment. Though just as you’re about to type in your first four-letter word your body starts to tingle. Turns out you have a scorching case of body lice, and for some reason you are compelled to click here.
Pink passage:
You think this post is sooo genius you are considering sending this blogger a Whitman Sampler.
You also will write a sweet comment and convince thousands of your friends to follow this blog. And of course you are compelled to click here.

FYI…THIS MOVIE WILL NEVER BE RE-RELEASED IN 3D
Nothing personal against this flick. I actually paid to rent it back in well...a very long time ago. Stallone was so-so in this comedy. Estelle didn’t really shine like in Golden Girls. Though all-in-all it was watchable. I’m just not convinced this is 3D worthy. Thoughts?

3 MOVIES YOU’RE NEVER GOING TO SEE SO I’LL JUST SPOIL THE ENDINGS FOR YOU.
REINDEER GAMES (2000): Rudy jumps out of the car just as it goes over the cliff with Ashley trapped inside. He then sends Nick over the cliff too. After, Rudy (in a Santa costume) shoves all the stolen money into neighborhood mailboxes before returning home to his family.
THE WHOLE TEN YARDS (2004): Jimmy steals the ripped dollar from Lazlo. He then gets away with Jill, Cynthia and Oz. Eventually they all figure out that the serial number on Lazlo’s dollar is the same digits for his private bank account with $280 million. Cynthia and Jill also announce that they are both pregnant.

CHEESY ASS 80s SAX QUIZ.
It’s amazing what a handful of decades can do to my sense of style. In ‘86 if you would’ve asked me what I thought the coolest guy would look like I’d say without a doubt...
A DUDE WITH A FEDORA HAT, BOMBER JACKET, BLACK TEE, AND A SAX IN HAND. To me sax equaled sex. Dollars to donuts the suits in Hollywood and the rock industry seemed to have agreed with me (based on the selections below). Can you identify all of their sax-filled moments? Since the images are somewhat crappy I provided hints. To find out the answer, simply click-and-hold the left mouse button. Then drag the mouse arrow directly under each hint. Thank you ENTER THE MAN-CAVE for showing me the way.
#1– GUESS THE BAND/SONG
#2– GUESS THE BAND/SONG
Hint: The band comes from a land down under.
#3– GUESS THE MOVIE
Hint: Dude is serenading Demi Moore.
#4– GUESS THE BAND/SONG
Hint: Daryl Hannah makes a cameo appearance in the video.
#5– GUESS THE MOVIE
Hint: Greased saxophonist has nothing to do with this movie about vampires.
BONUS: Video with the girl I had a major crush on in 1988.
