SUPER BOWL SNACK SPOTLIGHT: AN ONGOING, IN-DEPTH SERIES
Today’s topic: DIPS
As far as Super Bowl parties go, dips usually fall into pre-game territory. Tossed out before the hot stuff. ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES YOU CAN MAKE IS HAVING TOO MUCH DIP. People load up on onion dip, ranch or salsa and they’re pretty much out for the game. So if you’re going to have 8 to 10 people (with lots of food and booze) 2 - 3 small-ish containers should do the trick. Here are my ready-made reccos.
TOSTITOS® CHUNKY SALSA: Good ratio of veggies to sauce. Not too watery so you won’t have to worry about chip-spillage. Since you’ll have varied salsa pallets it’d probably be best to go for the medium over hot.
CHIP PAIRING SUGGESTION: TOSTITOS® SCOOPS®
KRAFT® FRENCH ONION DIP: Like other Kraft® dressings, this too has a thick, rich consistency to it. A little less oniony than other brands which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. 8oz container makes the perfect party serving size.
CHIP PAIRING SUGGESTION: TERRA BLUE POTATO CHIPS
LAY’S® SMOOTH RANCH DIP: Surprisingly I found this dip to be way more flavorful than lots of the fridge brands. Lives up to the coolness, and doesn't have an overpowering ranch aftertaste. It’s also a handy dip to keep out when the wings are served…for those 2 non-bleu cheese fans.

JUNK FOOD THAT’S GOOD FOR YOU.
Pork Rinds?
You've definitely seen 'em. It's the brown, puffy looking chip things packed in clear bags. Usually wedged way in the back of the snack bins.
What are they?
Pork skin that’s cured, then deep fried (not as bad as it sounds).
The bad news:
Nothing healthy ever started with the words Deep Fried. Also a bit high in the cholesterol area – 20mg.
The good news:
They have like zero carbs. Chips have like 15g per teeny-tiny serving. Pork Rinds also have 43% unsaturated fat that’s chock full of oleic acid (same stuff found in olive oil).
Best Brands to Eat:
Utz, Mac’s Snacks, Herr’s and Ricos.

GIMME A BEER, WITH NO ANCHOVIES!
So you’re out with the guys and knocked down a bunch of brews. Of course by the end of the night the unavoidable hits you – THE MUNCHIES! Well thanks to master homebrewers Tom and Athena Seefurth, one swig of their ale will satisfy both cravings – MAMMA MIA! PIZZA BEER. Ok, so maybe it wouldn’t exactly take the place of that hot, greasy slice. What you do get is a honey golden beer with hints of basil, tomato, oregano, basil, garlic – and no chance of scorching the roof of your mouth. Pairs perfectly with a pepperoni and cheese slice to go.
NWM tip: Chill before serving.
