OPEN LETTER TO MY DEAD AUNT GERT
Dear Auntie Gert,
I just wanted to say how I miss you so. I loved all the fun times we had together. It was great when you used to visit and bring those chocolate cookies from Leon’s bakery. I still remember when you used to take me to the park and push me on the swing. Then you’d buy me a chocolate ice cream. You were my favorite Great Auntie. And just so you know, I had 4.
Though I gotta be honest with you. Just ‘cause you’re my #1 dead Great Auntie, it doesn’t mean I won’t take you out if some punk vampire decides to raise you up from the grave. I know you have a good heart, but even you will not be strong enough to resist the evil virus that will course through your undead veins. You will crave blood, lots of it. I can't let that happen.
So if needed, I will purchase a vampire killing kit on ebay for $468 (see enclosed photos). It includes everything I need to snuff out blood suckers like: 10 types of wooden stakes, 4 Crucifixes, rope, Black Leaf Poison, Holy Water and more!
Again, me killing you will take nothing away from all the loving memories I cherish very much. I just don’t want you to eat me.
Give Uncle Herb and my dog (Sammy) my best.
Love always,
Jesse

Evil Kirk
A ZOMBIE "HOW-TO" GUIDE.
by Joshen McEwen (NWM Staff Writer)
So I have been working on a new little series and I have been compiling all the ways that one CAN become a zombie. Now zombie mythology is deep and complicated, but I’m pretty sure that if you avoid the following list of Zombinogens, you can spend the rest of your life NOT being one of the rotting, disgusting undead.
1) Don’t get bit by zombies!
I think this goes without saying. But hey, it's worth repeating a couple of times. The first thing you should try and do is avoid is getting bit by a zombie. No matter how the person that bit you became a zombie it’s almost guaranteed that in their quest for flesh, if they bite you, you’re a goner. So avoid Zombie bites. In fact, one should avoid allowing any type of zombie infected fluid from entering any orifice. If you must have sex with a Zombie, use protection.
2) Beware of viruses, especially viruses that have single letter names.
Now the most popular "zombie causing" virus has to be the T-virus created by the Umbrella corporation from the Resident Evil franchise. Don’t be fooled, many zombie movies start off with a scientist tinkering with some type of reanimation agent that goes wrong. Sometimes the virus is nameless. Sometimes it’s in a vial with some sort of toxic waste label. Beware, If you're not sure what illness the virus causes (like the x virus) chances are it will turn you into a zombie.
3) Spontaneous Zombie Generation:
Now there have been unexplained zombie incidents, like in Michael Jackson’s Thriller. it was simply after midnight, or when the living dead just walk. I t just seems like this is happening because it’s time to happen. Usually this type of zombie incident is the result of the dead waking up and then killing the living, turning them into zombies. All we can do is hope that SZG doesn’t happen within your lifetime. Though it might be cool to happen to you if you’re already deceased.
4) Beware of Curses, Witch Doctors, Shamans, Village Elders and Spiritual leaders, and other supernatural beings.
The last thing you want is for someone to put a curse on you. Or conduct some type of hobos pobos, majimbob that turns you into the living dead. Many zombies have been made corporeal by some type of religious summoning. Watch out for people carrying shrunken heads, some type of really cool looking stick, or that threatens you with an army of the undead. Some mythological higher beings are also responsible for creating the undead. Beware, in some cases vampires have been known to create and employ zombie henchman .
5) Do not ingest any form of Zombie flesh or undead animal.
Anything that has become a zombie can potentially turn you into a Zombie. So if you eat the odd zombie cow hamburger, (after you die from the food poisoning) you too will rise from the dead.
6) Aliens also create zombies:
For some odd reasons aliens come half across the universe to reanimate our dead, or inhabit them. It may be a cosmic joke or sometimes it’s the self-preservation of a dying race. Either way when aliens make their way to earth, they make life a nightmare for all the rest of us.
As long as you avoid the 6 listed reasons I can ALMOST guarantee you wont become a Zombie.

I EFFIN HATE SUCCESSORIES POSTERS!
by Tom McConville (NWM Staff Writer)
There’s a number of those cheesy “Successories” posters on the walls. A book entitled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens sits in my line of sight. The man behind me may or may not be looking at porn on one of the public computers. Welcome to my hometown’s Public Library. And my life as an unemployed 40 year old. Is this Not Worth Mentioning? Probably. I’m no different than many other people out there right now. But because it’s happening to me, and I’m a self-absorbed schmuck throwing a month long pity party, it seems like an awfully dramatic time in my life.
I have become Michael Keaton in Mr. Mom. And while this has its advantages – like the 4-day streak of wearing the same sweat pants without much protesting from others in my house – I don’t want to do this anymore. Aside from being nervous every waking minute of the day, being jobless is boring. It reminds me of the first 6 months of being a new dad. The first day is amazing, life changing, and mind blowing. But come the 3rd week, when you’re job becomes feedings and diaper changes, the magic of the moment loses its luster. The first 6 months of a baby’s life is well….boring. There’s a reason you freak out the first time they roll over, or point, or smile for real (instead of when they have gas). Because it’s the first exciting thing you’ve seen in months!
So it is with being laid off. You get geared up in the first few days, thinking, “Hey, it’s not so bad. Now I can do what I want”. But then, after a few weeks, doubt creeps in, and so does the drudgery of waking up knowing you have nowhere to go. I think it was sometime last week when the excitement of “doing what I want to do” was replaced by, “If I have to go to the park with my kids again today, I’m taking a hostage”. Plus, the overriding feeling of having to find a job – any job – just to make ends meet.
Yeah, my struggles are nothing new. And this is a little vain on my part. But this blog gives me something to do, aside from annoying recruiters all day long and using Linked In as my personal corporate matchmaking service. I’m going to keep writing here until I find a job. And then, when I do find a job, I’ll bitch about what a crappy job it is and that I should really do what I want to do.

RECIPE FOR JOB SUCCESS – EXTRA SAGE.
Really annoying people that have really good jobs always say,
“The key to success is talent and a little bit of luck.”
These are the same people that were born into billions or have dads with last names like Trump Gates or Walton. Sorry, downed a double dose of the bitter pills after perusing my ’09 financial statements this weekend. Seems like in this economy you need to really up that luck factor. Even with respectable MBAs and law degrees, I have friends who are still having trouble finding career success. Of course if you’re Alison Yates (Wicca extraordinaire), all you need is the right magic tea potion to make all of your financial dreams come true. And here is the spell recipe. Free of charge. Oh, just a little BTW, before you start. For the Money Tea (that’s what she calls it) to take full effect, it must be made during the Waxing Moon phase. That’s supposedly when it looks like the moon is growing bigger in the sky. Ok, now that we got all that celestial stuff cleared away, here’s what you need to do – word for word.
Place these dry herbs in a bowl:
3 teaspoons Mint
3 teaspoons Sage
2 teaspoons Rosemary
1 teaspoons Thyme
Now mix them all together while thinking of wealthy, successful thoughts and recite this incantation 3 times …
“Mix and combine to bring to me. Abundant wealth for all to see!”
This blend should last you for 9 days. Or when the oxen cries to the one eye dove (didn’t really get that part). Each day you must pour a half a cup of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of the mixture. Steep the tea for 5 minutes, and add honey if you like. Then take a sip and recite this second incantation 3 times…
“As I sip this money brew. Bring money and wealth to accrue. Harming none and helping me. So mote it be!”
Repeat for the next 8 days, and drop me a line if it actually works.
