8 THINGS I’M 72.8% SURE YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT PEZ.



#1- Edward Haas III (a Vienna confectioner) invented the PEZ candy back in 1927.

#2-PEZ comes from the German word for peppermint – Pfefferminz.

#3-In 1949, Oscar Uxa introduced the first PEZ dispensers at the Vienna Trade Fair.

#4-Popeye was the first cartoon character to appear on a PEZ dispenser.

#5-The PEZ US headquarters is located in Orange, Connecticut. 

#6-Feet were added to the PEZ design in 1987.

#7-The most popular PEZ licensed characters of all time are from the motion picture STAR WARS.

#8-The following PEZ flavors have been retired: Apple, Chlorophyll Mint, Coffee, Flower, Lime, Menthol/Eucalyptus, and Yogurt.

  1. I love Pez!!! I actually did know about the popeye thing! And um.... CHLOROPHYLL Mint?! Haha. Wonder why that was retired?

  4. I was -.8% sure that the yogurt Pez was on retirement leave, -.05% sure of what the second guy said, and .03% sure of Pat's agreement with what the second guy said. Pez is good stuff, though. I agree.

  5. I am pretty sure that Popeye was addicted to Pez and had to go into rehab. He has been sober for 18 years now.

  7. Chlorophyll,Mint,Coffee,Flower, Menthol/Eucalypts, and Yogurt.. why would anyone ever want to retire those flavours?
    Apple and Lime I see why you would kill them off.

  8. I love Pat's commentary, ha ha! I never knew about the feet. Very cool that there sort of a local company. I always loved the dispensers but never the actual candy :(
