Well another dog day of summer is in the record books. Joey Chestnut has walked away with the Mustard Belt for a 4th time. This year Joey’s winning number was 54 (14 shy of his record of 68 dogs). Most competitive eating analysts attribute his lower number to the absence of his arch nemesis – Takeru Kobayashi. The #1 Eater from the East that had refused to take the stage as a result of a contract dispute with Major League Eating. Still a win is a win. And now Joey is only 2 away from tying Kobayashi’s 6 wins. USA! USA!

ReplyDeleteAs a mother, I worry about their health. Hopefully there's some kind of vomitorium involved afterward and they don't try to actually DIGEST a bushel basket of hog parts.....
ReplyDeleteWay to go Joey! I am sure your training is paying off.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you've heard by now that Kobayashi got arrested for rushing the stage. Oh, the drama!
ReplyDeleteWith all those nitrates, I'd be farting up a storm. (Or is that nitrites? I can never get it right.)
ReplyDeletethere needs to some type of handicap system involved with this. The japanese guy (and girl) are eating about half their body weight in hot dogs. Just typing that made me want to vomit!
