GIVE YOUR BBQ GUESTS A BAD CASE OF THE EARWORMS:

An earworm (or haunted melody) is a psychological term coined by Dr. Theodor Reik. It refers to an unwanted song getting stuck in ones head. Quintessential earworm songs need to be just annoying enough to work. However the tune can't be too over-the-top BAD, like Pop Goes The World. Reik says the recipient will then be cognizant of the situation, and mentally block the sound out all together. He suggests it should almost be like background noise. Something that’ll seep in their brains unknowingly. I’d say if you’re looking for a genre, mid 80s to early 90s pop works best. Here are my TOP 10 choices:

*** WARNING: To prevent self-infliction, do not hum.***

10 – The mixed version of Give a Little Bit of Heart and Soul (T Pau)

9 - When I See You Smile (Bad English)

8 - Two Become One (Spice Girls)

7- Glory of Love (Peter Cetera)

6- Back Here Baby (BBMAK)

5- Kyrie (Mister Mister)

4- Sarah (Starship)

3- Theme to Doogie Howser M.D.

2- Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Deep Blue Something)

And #1…
