C’MON HOLLYWOOD! “THE LEGEND OF BILLIE JEAN” TOTALLY DESERVES A 25TH ANNIVERSARY DVD.

I know there is NO magic, tinsel town rule that states, “Hey, your film is celebrating a 25th anniversary – you deserve that special edition DVD." I'm just praying that the "powers that be" see it in their hearts to green light these gems for re-releases. Rescuing some of 'em from a life of videocassette purgatory.

I give you the class of 1985.

HEAVEN HELP US: The teen comedy with a parade of 80s teen heartthrobs (to some): Andrew McCarthy, Kevin Dillion and Patrick Dempsey. John Heard also turns in the performance of his life as the caring priest/teacher.

INVASION U.S.A.: Two words – Chuck Norris.

PRIVATE RESORT: One of the many soft porn, Spring Break-esque films of the time period. This one starred Johnny Depp (pre-Jump Street), Andrew Dice Clay (Pre-Hickory Dickory Dock…) and Rob Morrow.

THE LEGEND OF BILLY JEAN: Teenage angst at its best. Features a righteous beat by Benatar, Yeardley Smith from the Simpsons and Helen Slater in a bikini.

  1. Ha ha Yardley Smith was such a dog face! I'm so mean. I loved that movie. I was in love with Christian!

  4. My favorite moment in The Legend of Billie Jean is when Yeardley Smith goes running up to her mother and cries out "Mommy!" and then her mother slaps her down. So cold, yet so funny.

I'm sure there were other things in the movie, but that alone is worth commemorating.
