Seriously %$#% peeved by Pat’s whole “People of Haiti made a pact with the Prince of Darkness” quote. I mean can you honestly look at all of that suffering and loss of life and come up with a gem of a thought like that? Truly HORRIBLE!
Not to mention the fact that I actually HAD a somewhat fond memory of Pat’s show – the 700 Club. Back in the day I used to watch the last 10 minutes of the 7C ‘cause it was right before the best kid’s regional program of all time – THE MAGIC GARDEN. Paula. Carol. Sherlock the Squirrel. The Chucklepatch. The Story Box. There wasn’t anything better on in the tri-state area. ‘cept maybe TV PIX. Pix…Pix…Pix…Pix…Pix…
SO WHY DID A YOUNG JEWISH KID WATCH THE 700 CLUB?
3 reasons come to mind:
- No TV remotes back then, you chose a channel you stuck with that decision.
- People were smiling and singing (just like on The Magic Garden).
- To a kid, 700 is a big, cool number.
FYI…The Magic Garden DVD is avaible for 27.49 @ Amazon.
BTW…had a major crush on Carol and Flapper the bird!!!!

"The Magic Garden" and Pat Robertson must NEVER again be mentioned in the same sentence!

That's funny, because I used to call my 'magic garden' my 'chucklepatch'....
ReplyDeleteI never got the opportunity to see this show.... I was more of a 'Sharon, Lois and Bram's Elephant Show' kind of guy....
Oh, but did you ever watch a show called 'Today's Special'.... It was about a mannequin that cam to life after the store closed.... I loved that show!
