What impresses me the most about High Time’s Stony Awards doesn’t really have anything to do with the show itself. It’s that they actually remember to do it every year. Ba dum bump, thok! Pretty sure that caliber of humor puts me in the running for the coveted NBC 11:30pm time slot.
HISTORY OF THE STONY AWARDS...
Originally there wasn’t even a ceremony, just a yearly article in High Times magazine. Then Senior Editor-in-Chief Steven Hager suggested to make it a real honest-to-God event. So on a crisp day in March of 2002 the 1st or 3rd (kinda sketchy details on the history) annual Stoney awards were held at B.B. King’s Blues Club in NYC. It was hosted by Jim Breuer. Since then the Stony’s have hopped from coast to coast. Some of the venues included…
2005 – Sept. 28th at SPIRIT NIGHTCLUB (host Tony Camin.)
2006 – Oct. 24th at BB KINGS (co-hosts Redman & Doug Benson)
2007 – Oct. 13th at THE KNITTING FACTORY (host Tommy Chong.)
