SUPER BOWL SNACK SPOTLIGHT: AN ONGOING, IN-DEPTH SERIES

Today’s topic: DIPS

As far as Super Bowl parties go, dips usually fall into pre-game territory. Tossed out before the hot stuff. ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES YOU CAN MAKE IS HAVING TOO MUCH DIP. People load up on onion dip, ranch or salsa and they’re pretty much out for the game. So if you’re going to have 8 to 10 people (with lots of food and booze) 2 - 3 small-ish containers should do the trick. Here are my ready-made reccos.

TOSTITOS® CHUNKY SALSA: Good ratio of veggies to sauce. Not too watery so you won’t have to worry about chip-spillage. Since you’ll have varied salsa pallets it’d probably be best to go for the medium over hot.

CHIP PAIRING SUGGESTION: TOSTITOS® SCOOPS®

KRAFT® FRENCH ONION DIP: Like other Kraft® dressings, this too has a thick, rich consistency to it. A little less oniony than other brands which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. 8oz container makes the perfect party serving size.

CHIP PAIRING SUGGESTION: TERRA BLUE POTATO CHIPS

LAY’S® SMOOTH RANCH DIP: Surprisingly I found this dip to be way more flavorful than lots of the fridge brands. Lives up to the coolness, and doesn't have an overpowering ranch aftertaste. It’s also a handy dip to keep out when the wings are served…for those 2 non-bleu cheese fans.

CHIP PAIRING SUGGESTION: LAY’S® KETTLE COOKED CHIPS

  1. This post made me laugh. Dip rocks! I hate those silly football bowls though. Man, I want some chips now :(

  2. I hate those bowls too, though the half time shows are good. I think guacamole dip is needed. Perhaps that should be homemade.

  3. You must not be from California, because you did not include guacamole in your list!
